CHICAGO — President Donald Trump is expected to sign off on controversial Section 232 tariffs against imports of foreign steel and aluminium in the afternoon on Thursday March 8, sources familiar with the matter said.

Members of the United Steelworkers union have been invited to Washington to attend the signing ceremony in the White House, they said.

The tariffs are likely to be implemented shortly thereafter, according to sources.

Trump has said he intends to place blanket 25% tariffs on steel and 10% tariffs on aluminium imports.
