German construction and mechanical engineering company SMS Siemag has won a contract to supply Indonesian steel producer PT. Gunung with steelmaking machinery, SMS Siemag said on Thursday April 26.

PT. Gunung has placed an order for an SMS Siemag ARCCESS electric arc furnace and ladel furnace for its new flat and long products steelmaking plant in Bekasi, West Java, which will be commissioned by mid-2013.

With the new equipment, PT. Gunung will produce “high-quality steel and supply the slab caster also ordered from SMS Siemag with liquid steel,” SMS Siemag said in the statement.

The electric arc furnace will come equipped with SMS Siemag’s injection system, SIS, which is an oxygen injection system used to maintain productivity while keeping production costs low.

SMS Siemag also secured two similar deals this week to supply both India-based JSPL and ThyssenKrupp VDM with steelmaking equipment.
