Hotline’s favourite Australian mining magnate, Clive Palmer, will attempt to run for political office in Brisbane, Queensland, on behalf of the Liberal National Party, Hotline has heard.
He will be attempting to oust deputy prime minister Wayne Swan, who has held the electoral district since 1998.
Palmer is a vocal opponent of new taxes on carbon gas emissions, and on coal and iron ore mining profits (obviously) that will take effect on July 1, and were passed without support from the opposition.
Assuming Palmer is selected by the Liberal National Party to run against him, Swan relishes the prospect of such a contest, according to media sources.
Hotline is looking forward to Palmer’s election campaign, especially after his antics earlier in the month suggesting the
CIA is involved in Australian politics, and his latest scheme of
rebuilding the Titanic.
