NEW YORK CMC Cometals Steel, the steel trading arm of Commercial Metals Co., has settled with a Norwegian shipping company it claimed had damaged its steel products.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
The original lawsuit, filed by CMC Cometals Steel in July, had alleged that a cargo including wide-flange beams and channels shipped in a bulk vessel chartered by Grieg Star Shipping AS and managed by Grieg Shipping AS was delivered to the Port of Houston "in a damaged and deteriorated condition" (amm.com, July 18).
In a filing Thursday, CMC Cometals Steel requested that the initial pre-trial conference, originally set for Aug. 27, be taken off the calendar as a result of the settlement.
CMC Cometals Steel and Grieg could not be reached for comment.
