CHICAGO — Timken Co. has appointed a new president for its business in China, along with four new leaders within its bearings and power transmission division.

The Canton, Ohio-based steel and bearings manufacturer named Peter M. Sproson as president of its China business. Sproson, a company veteran who joined Timken as a sales engineer in Europe in 1978, will succeed Leong Fang, who will retire at the end of the year after a 28-year career with Timken.

China is Timken’s second-largest geographic sales region.

In the United States, Timken named John W. Beam as supply chain vice president for the bearings and power transmission unit, Richard M. Boyer as vice president of manufacturing, Hans Landin as vice president of business advancement and Michael P. Morgan as controller.

Beam and Boyer are 25-year and 28-year veterans of Timken, respectively, while Landin has worked at the company for 16 years and Morgan for seven years.
