NEW YORK Unionized workers at Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp.s New Madrid, Mo., smelter have ratified a new five-year labor contract, the company says.
The agreement, which covers about 780 workers at the site, was approved by the union in a Sept. 7 vote, a Noranda spokesman told AMM, declining to comment further on the terms of the deal.
We celebrate this new labor agreement because it reflects the commitment to New Madrids success demonstrated by the (United Steelworkers union) and Noranda negotiating teams, Layle Kip Smith, Noranda president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.
The previous contract was due to expire Aug. 31 but was extended through Sept. 7 as talks continued (
