CHICAGO — David Rombough, president of Marmon/Keystone Canada Inc., plans to retire from the company Jan. 31. He will be replaced by Lou Germano, who is currently executive vice president.

"I got to that time and stage of my life where it was time to move on. You can’t work forever," Rombough told AMM in an exclusive interview Wednesday, noting that he has worked at the Burlington, Ontario-based steel tube and pipe distributor since it was started 34 years ago and has been in the steel industry for 45 years.

When Rombough started with Marmon/Keystone Canada in 1978, it had only two locations: Burlington and Montreal. The company is now "coast to coast" and "the major pipe and tube player in Canada," Rombough said.

Rombough has held roles of increasing responsibility, including regional manager, group vice president and executive vice president. The possibility of spending an entire career in the steel industry—and in just one market, pipe and tube—shows how much the sector has to offer young people, he said.

Germano has been "groomed" for his new job and has a deep knowledge of the company, its products, people and procedures, Rombough said, noting that the promotion was part of Marmon/Keystone’s succession plan.

Germano has been with Marmon/Keystone for 30 years. His positions have included director of purchasing, vice president of purchasing and executive vice president.

Marmon/Keystone Canada is part of Butler, Pa.-based Marmon/Keystone LLC.
