NEW YORK — Negotiations between Severstal NA and the United Steelworkers union at Mountain State Carbon LLC (MSC) are set to resume Friday, according to the union.

About 200 union members at the coke-making operation are working without a contract, USW Local 1190 president Ernie Gambellin told AMM. After RG Steel LLC, co-owner of the coke-making operation in Follansbee, W.Va., filed for bankruptcy protection and relinquished operating control to Severstal, the previous contract was nullified, Gambellin said.

Severstal declined to comment on the negotiations.
