SHANGHAI — China’s daily run-of-mine output of 4.03 million tonnes per day in October was down 6.3 percent from September’s record high due to reduced mining activities during the month, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

"There was dynamite control during the weeklong national holiday, and in late October ahead of China’s 18th Communist Party Congress, so iron ore output dropped," an industry analyst in Shanghai told AMM sister publication Steel First.

However, output for the first 10 months of the year totaled 109.11 million tonnes per day, up 16.2 percent year on year.
