SÃO PAULO Brazilian imports of flat products fell to 115,170 tonnes in October, down 7.5 percent from a year earlier and 37.6 percent from 184,673 tonnes in September, according to figures released by the countrys foreign trade ministry.
Russia accounted for the highest volume last month at 27,861 tonnes, up from 9,219 tonnes in October 2011.
Imports of hot-rolled coil and sheet totaled 13,816 tonnes, down 61.1 percent from a year ago, while cold-rolled coil and sheet imports fell 20.1 percent to 26,255 tonnes and hot-dipped galvanized coil imports dropped 24 percent to 19,488 tonnes in the same comparison.
Shipments of heavy plate, however, increased to 31,726 tonnes in October, up from 9,801 tonnes a year earlier.
