NEW YORK The United Steelworkers union has ratified the tentative contract it signed last month with iron ore and metallurgical coal producer Cliffs Natural Resources Inc.
The USW represents workers at the Cleveland-based companys operations in Michigan and Minnesota. The 37-month labor contract became effective Sept. 1.
"The new contract will cover about 2,400 USW-represented workers at Cliffs Empire and Tilden mines in Michigan and its United Taconite and Hibbing Taconite mines in Minnesota," the company said in a statement Nov. 9.
