NEW YORK — Law enforcement officials are investigating a fire at the former RG Steel LLC facility in Mingo Junction, Ohio.

The "suspicious nature" of a fire, which started at 5 p.m. Sept. 14, led local fire officials to call police and state fire marshals, Mingo Junction police chief Steve Maguschak told AMM.

That investigation is ongoing and there are no suspects at this time, Maguschak said, noting that the facility had been broken into numerous times prior to the fire and that the new owner has hired security at the site.

Frontier Industrial Corp., the demolition company that bought the Mingo Junction steelmaking facility out of bankruptcy protection for $20 million in September, did not respond to requests for comment.
