Nucor, ArcelorMittal boost rod prices

NEW YORK — Nucor Corp. is raising wire rod transaction prices by $50 per ton ($2.50 per hundredweight) effective with Dec. 1 shipments, the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said in a Nov. 12 letter to customers.

The apparent leading move was quickly followed by ArcelorMittal USA Inc., Chicago, which in a Nov. 13 letter to customers set a $50-per-ton increase starting with Dec. 1 shipments in the United States and Canada.
