SHANGHAI Chinas production of aluminum and copper remained high in October, according to data from the countrys National Bureau of Statistics.
Aluminum output of 1.72 million tonnes was down marginally from the previous month but well above production in October 2011. Production averaged 55,484 tonnes per day last month, down 0.5 percent from September but 20.3 percent higher than a year earlier. Year-to-date output of 16.46 million tonnes was 11.3 percent higher than in the same period last year.
Refined copper output totaled 520,000 tonnes in October, with average daily production of 16,774 tonnes down 1.5 percent from the previous month but 8.6 percent higher than in October last year. Year-to-date output of more than 4.94 million tonnes was up 7.4 percent from a year earlier.
