SHANGHAI Chinas State Reserve Bureau (SRB) bought 100,000 tonnes each of refined zinc and aluminum Friday.
The zinc prices averaged 16,000 yuan ($2,564) per tonne, topping at 16,010 yuan ($2,566), state media reported, while the aluminum prices were between 15,737 and 15,757 yuan ($2,522 to $2,526) per tonne.
The SRB recently bought other metals, suggesting that the government wants to underpin market sentiment.
