NEW YORK — New aluminum used beverage can stock (class) scrap receipts totaled 66.5 million pounds in October, according to figures from the Aluminum Association.

That’s down 1.2 percent from 67.4 million pounds in the same month last year, but up 5.4 percent from 63.1 million pounds in September 2012, the Arlington, Va.-based organization said.

Receipts from January through October totaled 658.9 million pounds, up slightly from 658.6 million pounds in the first 10 months of last year.

The association last month said it intends to scale back its UBC reclamation data reports to an annual or semi-annual basis (amm.com, Oct. 24).
