NEW YORK Unionized workers at Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp.s Salisbury, N.C., rolling mill have ratified a new four-year labor contract, the company said.
The contract with the United Steelworkers union covers about 90 percent of the work force at the mill, Noranda said.
"This contract achieves Norandas goals of rewarding Salisbury employees for their accomplishments, making the plant a safer place, and positioning the business to prosper amidst challenging economic conditions and ever-increasing domestic and global competition," chief executive officer Layle "Kip" Smith said in a statement.
Franklin, Tenn.-based Norandas Salisbury mill produces flat-rolled aluminum products, including light-gauge aluminum foil and heavy-gauge sheet.
