NEW YORK Esmark Steel Group LLC and union workers have reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year labor contract at the newly acquired and renamed Ohio Cold Rolling Co., the company said Friday.
The tentative agreement "paves the way" for getting the Yorkville, Ohio, finishing mill back online, United Steelworkers union District 1 president Dave McCall said in a statement.
"Ohio Cold Rolling Co.s focus will be on serving the light-gauge and narrow-width coil niche in the marketplace, and together with our Ohio Coatings Co. subsidiary, we expect to be a premier supplier of both cold-rolled and tinplate products," said Esmark Steel Group chief executive officer Tom Modrowski.
USW workers are set to vote on the agreement Dec. 6, according to a local USW representative. Parent company Esmark Inc. bought the facility from bankrupt steelmaker RG Steel LLC earlier this year (amm.com, Oct. 11).
