MSR plans second Maine yard

PITTSBURGH — MSR Recycling LLC has one more hurdle to jump in efforts to construct a feeder yard that it hopes to open by next spring.

The Winslow, Maine-based scrap metal recycler is already working on a new eight-acre yard in Madison. The yard will accept all types of scrap, as well as buy vehicles. Material collected at the Madison facility will be transported to its flagship yard.

MSR owner Fred Black told AMM that it is reaching deeper into the state to increase its volumes.

The Madison Planning Board approved the facility in the summer, but a hearing has been scheduled for Dec. 6 by the Board of Appeals after a neighbor voiced an objection to the project.
