MEXICO CITY Mexican steel
exports fell by some 800,000 tonnes in the first nine
months compared with the same 2011 period, according to
Mexican steel association Canacero.
Exports decreased 17.7 percent
to 3.8 million tonnes during the period.
Exports to Latin America
accounted for 33.1 percent of the total exported volume, up
from 31.8 percent in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, exports to the United
States accounted for 58.1 percent of total shipments, up from

dependence of (exports from) Mexico on the (American) continent
and, in particular, on the U.S. market," Canacero said.
The association forecast that Mexican steel exports will
reach 5 million tonnes for all of 2012.
