PITTSBURGH — Allied Scrap LLC is working to open a location in the hamlet of Holbrook, N.Y.
The Town of Islip Planning Board, which has jurisdiction over the site, will hold a hearing Dec. 12 to consider the recycler’s request to obtain a scrap metal processing permit and rezone the parcel. The board will allow the public to speak and review environmental impacts associated with the request.
The 4.75-acre site includes a 28,000-square-foot building with outdoor storage and is located within a mile of two highways.
Allied Scrap is owned by Wheatley Heights, N.Y.-based Arrow Scrap Corp.
The company declined to comment on the matter.
