BURSA, Turkey Turkey exported 1.72 million tonnes of steel tube and pipe in the first 11 months of this year, up 13.9 percent from the same period last year, according to the Turkish Steel Pipe Manufacturers Association. The exports were valued at $1.59 billion, up 4.5 percent in the same comparison.
Data released by the Turkish Steel Exporters Association showed that pipe products made up 9.4 percent of the countrys total steel exports.
Iraq has been the biggest buyer of Turkish pipe this year, importing 337,531 tonnes, followed by the United States (285,219 tonnes), Britain (204,041 tonnes) and Algeria (129,259 tonnes).
Turkeys steel pipe exports totaled 202,889 tonnes in November, up 58.2 percent from a year earlier. They had a total value of $180.8 million, up 36.6 percent.
Turkish exports to the European Union recovered in November as regional demand strengthened slightly, but Iraq remained Turkeys largest pipe export market at 47,028 tonnes, followed by Algeria (33,908 tonnes) and the United States (18,048 tonnes).
