NEW YORK ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA LLC has lowered most stainless steel surcharges for December on the back of lower nickel prices.
The Calvert, Ala.-based company has set its surcharges at 72.99 cents per pound for Type 304, down 7.9 percent from 79.28 cents last month; 48.14 cents per pound for Type 201, down 4.8 percent from 50.55 cents; and $1.0312 per pound for Type 316, down 7.7 percent from $1.1168. The surcharge for Type 430, which contains no nickel, was increased 9.1 percent to 21.69 cents per pound from 19.88 cents.
Other stainless steel producers announced similar moves last month (amm.com, Nov. 20).
