LONDON — Century Aluminum Co. has named president and chief executive officer Michael Bless to its board of directors.

Bless joined the Monterey, Calif.-based aluminum producer in January 2006 as chief financial officer. He took over as interim president and chief executive officer following the departure of Logan Kruger in November 2011 (amm.com, Nov. 15, 2011), and accepted the role on a permanent basis in February (amm.com, Feb. 7).

"In his more than six years with the company, Mike has achieved a great deal and proven himself as an excellent leader," Century chairman Terence Wilkinson said in a statement. "We look forward to working further with him to continue to enhance Century’s position in the global aluminum industry."
