NEW YORK Pittsburgh-based U.S. Steel Corp. has asked a judge in U.S. District Court in Indiana to hear its arguments on why a complaint filed against the steelmaker by federal and state environmental agencies should be dismissed.
The U.S. Justice Department does not object to the request, according to court documents filed late last week.
The lawsuit, originally filed in August, alleges that the steelmaker violated the Clean Air Act at its Gary (Ind.) Works, Great Lakes (Ecorse, Mich.) Works and Granite City (Ill.) Works (amm.com, Aug. 3).
