LONDON — Quanex Building Products Corp. will acquire the assets of window and patio door screen manufacturer Alumco Inc.

Quanex, the parent company of aluminum sheet producer Nichols Aluminum LLC, signed a definitive agreement to purchase Alumco and its subsidiaries in an all-cash transaction for an undisclosed sum, the Houston-based company said Tuesday.

The deal is expected to close on Dec. 31.

Alumco, based in Chehalis, Wash., operates nine manufacturing facilities throughout the United States that produce window and patio door screens for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Alumco’s products primarily serve vinyl window manufacturers, a new area for Quanex, which makes window screens for the wood window industry.

"The acquisition allows us to expand our presence in the fenestration segment, ... creates the opportunity to become a leading window and door screen producer in North America, allowing us to extend our product offering and geographic footprint," David Petratis, Quanex chairman, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Alumco will become part of Quanex’s Engineered Products Group.
