NEW YORK — Severstal North America Inc. has named Sachin Shivaram to the position of general manager of metallics purchasing.

Shivaram joins the Dearborn, Mich.-based steelmaker from ArcelorMittal USA Inc., where he was head of strategy and marketing for the Long Carbon Americas unit in Chicago, Severstal said Thursday. He will be based in Columbus, Miss., the steelmaker added.

Shivaram will report to Severstal’s chief strategy and procurement officer, Saikat Dey, who assumed his new role last week (amm.com, Dec. 10).
