NEW YORK — Ametek Specialty Metals Products (Ametek SMP) has upgraded the rolling capabilities at its Eighty Four plant near Pittsburgh.

The upgrades—which cost “well over $200,000,” according to a company spokesman—include new equipment for the company’s clad metal rolling mill, upgrades to prebond surface preparation equipment and the addition of advanced robotic clad material processing capabilities, the company said.

“These enhanced capabilities provide Ametek with greater flexibility in meeting the demand for rolled clad metals for the luxury cookware and consumer appliance cooktop market,” the company said.

Ametek SMP is a subsidiary of Berwyn, Pa.-based electronic instruments and electromechanical device manufacturer Ametek Inc.
