PITTSBURGH — Vallourec SA merged two of its Canadian subsidiaries effective Jan. 1 as the steel tube and pipe maker said it looks to "improve options" for customers in the premium oil country tubular goods (OCTG) market.

The Boulogne-Billancourt, France-based company said it had merged Vallourec Tubes Canada Inc., a pipe and tubular goods supplier, and VAM Canada Inc., a manufacturer of VAM premium threaded connections, into a new firm called Vallourec Canada Inc.

Vallourec Canada has 66 employees at four locations in Calgary, Alberta; Nisku, Alberta; Paradise, Newfoundland; and Burlington, Ontario, the company said.

Vallourec said the move will allow the company to take advantage of natural synergies between the divisions’ sales forces and would not impact customers.
