PITTSBURGH Investor Carl Icahn has further reduced his stake in Commercial Metals Co., more than a year after making an unsuccessful bid to acquire the steelmaker, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday.
Icahn holds approximately 7.2 million shares, or about 6.2 percent of the Irving, Texas-based steelmaker, down from 6.9 percent in August and 9.98 percent previously (amm.com, Aug. 17).
Icahn had tried to secure a controlling stake in CMC, and after the attempt failed he said he no longer wanted to remain a minority shareholder in the company (amm.com, Jan. 11, 2012).
