NEW YORK — RG Steel LLC is seeking to recover more than $6.1 million in payments made to a number of product and service suppliers in the three months before the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to documents filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.

Sparrows Point, Md.-based RG wants to recover payments to at least 29 companies that date to its bankruptcy "preference period" of March 2 to May 31, 2012.

RG Steel is seeking approximately $1.96 million from South Jordan, Utah-based Alcan Primary Products Co. LLC, doing business as Alcan Ingot Products Corp. The companies with the next-highest payment tallies are Sparrows Point-based BWI Sparrows Point LLC at $883,787; Dundalk, Md.-based Adey Sanchez & Lewis Industrial Services Inc. ($677,522); Baltimore-based A.B. Filicko Co. Inc. ($318,048); and Sparrows Point, Md.-based Chesapeake Specialty Products Inc. ($298,221).
