NEW YORK Carpenter Technology Corp. has hired former
Alcoa Inc. executive Tony Thene to replace Douglas Ralph as
senior vice president and chief financial officer effective
Thene spent 23 years with Pittsburgh-based Alcoa, most recently
as chief financial officer for its engineered products and
solutions business, according to the company.
(Thene) has significant mergers, acquisitions and
joint-venture experience, plus process industry experience,
having spent the vast majority of his professional life at a
global, publicly traded metals company, Carpenter said.
Ralph announced his retirement in September (
amm.com, Sept. 7
); a company spokesman confirmed
that Ralph will stay on in an advisory capacity until August.
In other news, Andrew Ziolkowski has been tapped as Wyomissing,
Pa.-based Carpenters senior vice president for commercial
specialty alloy operations and Latrobe operations effective
immediately, according to the spokesman. Ziolkowski replaces
Mark Kamon, who announced his retirement in November (
amm.com, Nov. 28
Ziolkowskis promotion follows a special assignment as
head of integration and operations of Latrobe Specialty Metals
Inc., Latrobe, Pa., which was acquired by Carpenter last
February, according to the company.
In his new role, Ziolkowski will be responsible for the
overall commercial efforts of Carpenter (specialty alloy
operations), including international sales as well as the
distribution operations of Aceros Fortuna and Grupo, the
company said. He will also complete the integration of Latrobe,
according to the company.
Prior to his most recent post as senior vice president for
Latrobe operations, Ziolkowski held the positions of vice
president for bar and coil products and vice president for
strip products, according to the company.
