NEW YORK — Battery Solutions Inc. has appointed Michael Profit as chief executive officer following an investment from Alston Capital Partners LLC.

Profit previously served as chief executive officer of information technology asset management and electronics recycling services company Intechra LLC.

Alston, a private equity firm focused on the environmental sector, made a "control investment" in New Howell, Mich.-based Battery Solutions whereby founder and owner Chris Sova will continue to be a "significant shareholder" in the battery recycler, an Alston spokesman told AMM.

Alston had formerly worked with Profit when it held a controlling interest in Intechra, prior to its acquisition by Arrow Electronics Inc. in November 2010 (, Nov. 24, 2010).

"We are confident that the addition of Michael Profit and a strong capital provider, skilled in building businesses, will strengthen our ability to serve our customers," Battery Solutions vice president of account management Jeremy Sova said in a statement.
