NEW YORK Severstal North America Inc. has partnered with Mississippi State University (MSU) to create a steel research center.
The 5,000-square-foot facility, located on the universitys Oktibbeha County campus, will be equipped with lab-scale alloy melting, casting and rolling facilities, the Dearborn, Mich.-based company said.
"We plan to deploy enhanced capabilities in multiscale modeling and characterization developed at Mississippi State and utilize steelmaking expertise from industrial partners, like Severstal, to guide current and future research and development activities at the new lab," Roger King, director of MSU's Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems and a professor of electrical and computer engineering, said.
