LOS ANGELES The Chromalloy unit of Sequa Corp. will close four plants and eliminate 530 jobs, including 200 in the United States, as part of a slated global consolidation.
Chromalloy Gas Turbine LLC, a Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.-based supplier of coatings and repair services for aerospace and industrial markets, said that over the course of this year it will close its facilities in Gardena, Calif.; Midwest City, Okla.; Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; and Tilburg, the Netherlands. The North American cutback will involve 350 employees, while the reduction in Tilburg will affect another 180 workers.
The "streamlining" move will allow Chromalloy, part of Tampa, Fla.-based Sequa, to consolidate work at other facilities, company president Carlo Luzzatto said in a statement.
