NEW YORK — Evraz Inc. North America has received board approval to expand heat-treat capacity by 150 percent and threading capacity by "about 40 percent" at its Calgary, Alberta, tubular facility, the company said Jan. 25.

The "multimillion-dollar project" is set to kick off next month, Evraz said.

"The Calgary expansions will allow us to offer a more comprehensive product portfolio to meet growing needs for premium OCTG (oil country tubular goods) product," according to Tigran Atayan, executive vice president of Chicago-based Evraz NA’s tubular products group.

The mill, which has an annual capacity of about 300,000 tons, makes both OCTG and line pipe, the company’s website states.

Evraz NA announced the expansion plan in May (amm.com, May 15).
