PITTSBURGH — NCI Group Inc., a subsidiary of NCI Building Systems Inc., has opened a coil-coating facility in Middletown, Ohio, in order to grow its domestic footprint.

The facility, which will be run by NCI subsidiary Metal Coaters, has been in the works since Houston-based NCI purchased the site for $4.9 million from Elk Grove Village, Ill.-based Material Sciences Corp. two and a half years ago (amm.com, June 28, 2010).

Metal Coaters already has operations in Marietta, Ga.; Jackson, Miss.; and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. The Middletown facility, which has undergone an overhaul that included the addition of a rail spur and the installation of an embossing unit, is expected to expand the company’s reach into the upper Midwest and the Northeast.
