NEW YORK — Southwire Co. has named Jack Carlson president of its North American business.

Carlson, previously president of the electrical segment, will now lead all of the Carrollton, Ga.-based company’s sales and marketing and product development efforts in North America.

In his new role, he will manage Southwire’s electrical, energy and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) divisions, as well as its Canadian wire and cable business and newly created industrial division.

"Jack has been the driver behind the tremendous growth in our electrical business and the division’s recovery from the housing crash several years ago," Southwire president and chief executive officer Stu Thorn said in a statement. "As we continue to expand into new products, markets and geographies, we have a chance to bring our unique blend of technology and culture to new customers."

Norman Adkins will take over as president of the electrical section, the company said.

Southwire supplies cable to a variety of end-markets including power generation and transit, petrochemical, natural gas and automotive, as well as industrial campuses, such as hospitals, universities, prisons and military bases.
