LOS ANGELES An Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI) executive has been given added responsibilities within the companys engineered products segment.
John D. Sims, executive vice president of the companys primary titanium and ATI Wah Chang operations, is now executive vice president of primary titanium operations and engineered alloys and products.
Sims previously served as executive vice president of primary metals and exotic alloys.
Sims fills a post that has remained unoccupied since the retirement last year of David M. Hogan (amm.com, March 9).
In addition to ATI Wah Chang and the primary titanium operations, Sims is now also responsible for the ATI Tungsten Materials, ATI Portland Forge, ATI Casting Service, ATI Fabricated Components and ATI Precision Finishing units.
Tucker S. Redford has been named president of Albany, Ore.-based ATI Wah Chang, which produces exotic alloys, including hafnium, columbium, tantalum, titanium, vanadium and zirconium. Redford will report to Sims, who maintains overall responsibility at ATI Wah Chang.
Redford has prior operations and sales experience at both ATI Wah Chang and ATI Allvac Inc., the companys Monroe, N.C.-based unit, which produces titanium and nickel-based alloy products, an ATI spokesman said.
ATIs primary titanium operations include its sponge facility in Rowley, Utah, and the currently idle Albany sponge plant, as well as its electron-beam melting operation in Richland, Wash.
