NEW YORK U.S. Steel Corp. has named Patrick J. Mullarkey plant manager of its Fairfield, Ala., tubular operations effective Feb. 1.
Mullarkey replaces Dennis Quirk, who retired after 36 years with the company, the steelmaker said.

He has since held a number of management positions in Gary, the companys headquarters in Pittsburgh and its steelmaking plant at Koice, Slovakia. He assumed his most recent position as president of Pittsburg, Calif.-based joint venture United Spiral Pipe LLC in 2010, the company said.
Prior to joining U.S. Steel, he worked at the former Inland Steel Co. in East Chicago, Ind., and Raytheon Engineers & Constructors Inc., U.S. Steel said.
Mullarkey will relocate to the Birmingham, Ala., area, the company said.
