PITTSBURGH Metalico Inc. has confirmed that it has purchased the assets of Conway, Pa., scrapyard Skips Recycling Inc. (amm.com, Feb. 6), saying the acquisition will deepen its foothold in the area.
"The new facility, 16 miles north of Metalicos Pittsburgh shredder, is ideally situated to provide further penetration into the local scrap market and to augment the companys scrap flow in a strategically desirable market," the Cranford, N.J.-headquartered company said.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Metalico said it acquired certain accounts and equipment from the subsidiary of Pittsburgh-based Three Rivers Scrap Metal Inc. but did not assume any liabilities.
Three Rivers Scrap will continue to operate under its existing ownership.
With its newest asset, Metalico now operates 29 recycling facilities in Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia, as well as four lead fabricating facilities in Alabama, California and Illinois.
