NEW YORK Wheatland Tube Co. has boosted prices by $40 per ton ($2 per hundredweight) on Grade B electric-resistance welded pipe effective with orders Feb. 5, according to market sources. Wheatland has also hiked continuous weld pipe, sprinkler pipe and A106 seamless material by 4 percent effective with orders Feb. 5.
The Sharon, Pa.-based steel pipe maker, a subsidiary of Chicago-based JMC Steel Group Inc., cited "the increase in cost of flat-rolled steel" as the reason for the hike, sources said.
JMC declined a request for comment.
