SDI lowers SBQ surcharge for March

CHICAGO — Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) is lowering its scrap surcharge on all special bar quality (SBQ) products by $13.33 per ton (66.7 cents per hundredweight) effective March 1.

SDI bases its surcharge on AMM’s three-city average for No. 1 bundles, which was $373 per ton ($18.70 per cwt) Feb. 11. The March surcharge will be $258 per ton ($12.90 per cwt) vs. $271.33 ($13.57 per cwt) in February, the Fort Wayne, Ind.-based company said in a letter to customers.
