NEW YORK — Former Molycorp Inc. chief executive officer Mark Smith has joined the advisory board of Quantum Rare Earth Developments Corp.

The Vancouver, British Columbia-based company is developing what it describes as “the highest-grade undeveloped niobium deposit in North America” in Nebraska.

Smith resigned from Molycorp in December 2012, and also sits on the board of Talison Lithium Ltd. and Avanti Mining Inc.
