CHICAGO — Cold-rolled strip producer Greer Steel Co. has expanded its Dover, Ohio, operation to include full service center capabilities, the company said Feb. 27, noting that the expansion will be operational March 1.

The Dover facility will now be able to supply all the products Greer already stocks at its Ferndale, Mich., service center, the company said, including carbon steel strip and stainless products in mill quantities as well as smaller-quantity releases typically associated with original equipment manufacturers’ just-in-time programs.

The 13,000-square-foot addition features a 20-ton overhead crane and full radiant floor humidity control to support retention of both intermediate processed and finished products.

"Our new capabilities will provide increased value and flexibility to our customers," president and chief executive officer John R. Raese said in a statement. "Having our service center capabilities incorporated within our Dover complex will improve our efficiency and ability to service our customers."
