PITTSBURGH Recyclers in Mississippi might get a tax break if legislators approve an amendment to the states recycling laws.
A bill passed by the state House and sent to the Senate would revise the terms "manufacture" and "manufacturing" in the 1972 state code to include processing activities by scrap metal processors, thus lowering the sales tax rate on certain transactions to 1.5 percent from 7 percent, according to an industry source.
If passed, the measure would take effect July 1.
