NEW YORK — Construction firm Walbridge will build Benteler Steel/Tube GmbH’s new $900-million seamless oil country tubular goods (OCTG) mill in Caddo, La.

The Detroit-based construction company’s procurement team will hold a meeting on the project with local vendors March 7 in Shreveport, La., according to a posting by the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce.

The Caddo-Bossier Port Commission has already received a number of inquiries from local suppliers and subcontractors about the new mill, according to the minutes of a Jan. 17 board meeting.

The initial phase of the project will include a hot-roll tube mill, but the company—the German unit of Salzburg, Austria-based Benteler Group—will eventually add an electric-arc furnace ( amm.com, Nov. 7). The project is expected to have a capacity of more than 250,000 tons.

Walbridge did not return a request for comment.
