NEW YORK Two more mills have thrown their weight behind a price increase on hollow structural sections (HSS).
Hoover, Ala.-based Hanna Steel Corp. has raised prices on all tubular products by $50 per ton effective midday March 6, while North Kansas City, Mo.-based ExlTube Co. has boosted prices on its square, rectangular and round mechanical and structural products by the same amount effective with the close of business the same day, according to company letters sent to customers.
Orders currently on the books will be price-protected for shipment through April 1, both companies said.
The increases follow an apparent leading move by Atlas Tube Inc. earlier this week (amm.com, March 5).
