PITTSBURGH A Northern Metal Recycling LLC employee is hospitalized with burns after being electrocuted.
The 33-year-old truck driver stopped his tractor trailer in the parking lot of Toys Scrap & Salvage Corp. in Eau Claire, Wis., to cover the load. Toys is owned by Minneapolis-based Northern Metal Recycling, a subsidiary of European Metal Recycling Ltd.
While securing the load, the trucks automated tarp roller came into contact with an overhead power line. The force of the shock threw the man off the truck and a spark caused a small fire within the load, according to the Eau Claire County Sheriffs Department.
The worker was taken to a regional burn center.
