CHICAGO — Globe Specialty Metals Inc.’s five-year labor contract with unionized workers at its Bécancour, Québec, operation expires April 30, a union official confirmed March 12.

The New York-based silicon metals producer is currently in negotiations with Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) Local 184, which represents approximately 150 workers at the Globe facility, CEP official René Gauthier told AMM.

Gauthier said there was little else to report at the moment.
